HITS Spring Returns to L.A. May 23, with ‘Tech Takes Talent’ Theme

Hollywood’s technology community is in a seismic state of change. New tech giant arrivals are filling their local talent pools while traditional studios are transforming and retraining their teams to deal with a direct-to-consumer, platform and data-driven consumer marketplace. Even in an era of artificial intelligence, machines and automation, Hollywood CIOs know that tech takes talent.

Welcome to Hollywood’s transformational “talent rush” of 2019. This year’s HITS Spring, May 23, at the Sheraton Universal Hotel, will explore the latest technology trends in the context of our community’s primary challenge — putting the right people in place to design, build and operate the new digital Hollywood machinery.

This year’s HITS Spring program will address how companies are luring the best recruits, while holding onto their own best talent. How are entrepreneurial executives turning buyouts into business opportunities and innovating their business culture during the transformation? How are business units embracing adoption of SaaS, PaaS and increasingly informative data across multiple workflows, to realize their executives’ and team’s potential? What is the real business impact of diversity and inclusion from both an internal HR perspective but also in how products are created, marketed, delivered and positioned?

This year’s HITS Spring will inspire Hollywood to create a people-centric IT and business culture by creating better expert office systems, integrated and transparent teams who will lead our industry to making successful business decisions in a new world of content delivery.

Keynoters, panelists and the popular HITS Innovation & Technology breakout session series will explore major technology shifts in how traditional IT is transforming data, blockchain, 5G, and OTT, while focusing on the skill sets required to make it all happen.

HITS Spring is also pleased to be hosting the third annual WiTH Leadership Awards, presented by Women in Technology: Hollywood (WiTH), which honors technology-career role models and mentors who empower women executives to be bold leaders.

HITS: Spring is programmed under the guidance of the Content Advisors of the Hollywood IT Society, which includes Steve Andujar, EVP and CIO of Sony Pictures Entertainment; Bruce Bleasdale, VP of technology operations for The Walt Disney Co.; John Herbert, EVP and CIO of Fox Corporation; Steve Lapinski, CIO of filmed entertainment for NBCUniversal; Theresa Miller, EVP CIO of Lionsgate; Scott Phelan, corporate SVP of Warner Bros. Entertainment; and Abe Wong, CIO of Viacom Media Networks and Paramount Pictures.

The event is presented by Entertainment Partners, with sponsorship by LiveTiles, Amazon Web Services, Expert System, MarkLogic, Microsoft Azure, SoftServe, Spark Digital, Avanade, MicroStrategy, human-I-T, Sony New Media Solutions, Spherex and Zaszou IT Consulting.

HITS: Spring is produced by the Media & Entertainment Services Alliance (MESA) and the Hollywood IT Society (HITS), in association with Women in Technology: Hollywood (WiTH); the Content Delivery & Security Association (CDSA); and the Smart Content Council.
