Content Security Director,
Content Delivery & Security Association (CDSA)
Alex is responsible for Content Security at BBC Studios and provides global direction and leadership in all aspects of managing content flow securely to ensure that it is shared in the right way at the right time and with the right audiences. He works most closely with the Production, Marketing and Operations teams, managing all strategic and operational risk and provides policy, guidance and advice to all relevant parts of the business.
Prior to this role, Alex managed the Privacy and Data Protection function for 8 years, a role which saw frequent collaboration with the BBC’s Information Security team. He has been with BBC Studios – or BBC Worldwide, as was – for more than a decade and has a wealth of experience not only in the BBC but across the industry in this area – including chairing the Content Delivery & Security Association’s (CDSA) European Committee, working with production companies like Disney, Paramount, Warner Bros and NBC.
BBC Studios is a global content company, embodying the very best of bold British creativity, and investing in quality content across premium genres including factual, scripted and entertainment. Its profits contribute to significant financial returns that are reinvested into the BBC for the benefit of the UK license fee payer.
Alex is currently Chairman of the Board of CDSA, the worldwide forum advocating the innovative and responsible delivery and storage of entertainment, software, and information content.
