Introduction
Secure content storage and distribution is high on the agenda for most people in the entertainment sector following the Sony Pictures hack and a number of high profile ‘celebrity’ leaks during the latter part of 2014.

Cross border content security adds an additional dimension in Europe, as rights owners and distributors seek to protect their revenues and investments in the face of  growing online access and mobile device usage.

MESA Europe will be hosting an informal seminar at this year’s Berlin Film Festival to engage members and invited guests with a series of presentations and informed discussion on the issues being faced and taking a look at what steps can be taken by companies up and down the value chain.

Opening Discussions on Rights Management
Stephen Kassin,
Co-Founder & President, FilmTrack
André Roy, Head of Security Practice, Farncombe Technology

The emergence of new entertainment content delivery platforms and a widening array of screen based products is driving demand for content on the move, which, in turn, is presenting a whole new series of challenges to rights owners and distributors. Rights management is fundamental to existing financial models right across the entertainment spectrum, but are these models now under threat?

In addition we will discuss ways in which cross border rights are policed and protected and consider what else can be done to ensure that legitimate revenue streams are protected. Do content owners and distributors have to accept that some leakage is inevitable and work to minimise it or is there a cast iron solution that we can look to, now or at some stage in the future?

Lessons From America
Expert: Robert Delf, Chief Executive Officer, Rightsline Software Inc

There is no one in the entertainment industry, or any industry for that matter, that didn’t reflect on the high profile hack at Sony Pictures and think “I am glad that was not us”.

What can we learn from that incident, and other high profile breaches during 2014, and what steps can we take to avoid this happening again?

In this one on one interview we talk to the leading expert who is directly involved in advising and
providing Hollywood Studios on enterprise grade, contract and rights management cloud based SAAS solutions.

Managing Security Throughout the Content Workflow
Alistair Cameron, Director of Sales – NexGuard, CIVOLUTION

The fragmented nature of the European market and the need for localised content significantly expands  the potential threat of a security breach. In this discussion we learn about what steps can be taken  to minimise the risks and maintain content integrity.
