MESA Europe Presents:

9th February 2016, From 2 to 5.30 p.m., Grand Connaught Rooms, 61-65 Great Queen St, LonRegister Buttondon, Wc2B 5DA

Efficient, yet secure, asset management in the home entertainment sector is becoming more important than ever as the whole business continues to go through fundamental structural, commercial and technological change.

Asset Management

The growing number of distribution platforms, and the resultant growth in file formats, are clearly driving some of this need for efficient access and retrieval of assets, but changing release windows and a tiered approach to both title availability and pricing are also part of the catalyst for change.

Add to this the multiple title ‘versions’, including the need for local language tracks, compliance with national certification requirements and editorial cuts specified by some of the distribution platforms and the complexity of the situation becomes ever more clear.

Promotional assets and trailers are also part of the equation, in many cases, as these too have to be retrieved, localised and distributed in a fast, efficient and secure manor.

All of the above explains why the MESA Europe Entertainment Content and Member, Advisory Boards have targeted Asset Management as the next area of focus as part of the highly successful MESA Europe industry workshop series.

During the workshop, participants, representing a total cross section of the industry, will share their ideas and
experiences and identify priority areas where collaboration and changes to processes and procedures can
create improved efficiencies. There will also be a limited number of short presentations and a content owners
and distributors panel discussion in order to set the scene and help shape the afternoon’s discussion
Asset Mgmt Speakers

In order to make this a constructive and effective forum, the event will once again be capped at just 50 participants, and given that the last three workshops were ‘sold out’ some weeks in advance, you are ecouraged to secure your place as early as possible.

Creating an Efficient Environment for Promotional Asset Management
Ola Scholander, Chief Commercial Officer ClipSource

Storing, retrieving and distributing promotional assets presents a unique set of challenges for the entertainment industry, in an environment where speed of response, security and cost efficiency are critical. In this next presentation we will learn more about these challenges and hear about some of the approaches and best practice solutions that can be employed to ensure that the needs of the various stakeholders are met.

Round Table Working Group 2: Location and Retrieval

The management of assets through end to end workflows requires a structured and secure approach, where identification and retrieval play a key role. What are the important elements that create efficiencies in this process and where are the potential pitfalls. Where do promotional assets fit into this process, if at all?

Meeting the Changing Needs of an Industry in Transition
Paul Thompson, Director Strategic Solutions, Global Centre of Excellence, Avid

The changing pattern of demand for content and the explosion in distribution channels are together having a big impact
on the ways in which programming is managed during the creation process. Our final speaker of the afternoon takes a look at
some of these changes and looks at how the evolving needs of the media industry are being addressed.

Round Table Working Group 3: Potential Solutions and How Best to Leverage Them

What is asset management utopia and how far away are we from it? Is it just investment that stands in the way of the industry
achieving this utopia or is there more to it? Is there a need for improved industry collaboration and what could this deliver?
What can the content communities supply chain and distribution partners do to make life easier?  This final round table draws
on some of the outputs from the earlier discussion session and focuses on potential solutions and next steps that can be taken to
deliver improvements.
