Mark Coatney is a digital media consultant with more than 20 years experience in online media. Previously he was Vice President, Digital News at Forbes. Before that he was Senior Vice President for Digital at Al Jazeera America, where he launched and oversaw Al Jazeera’s Web and mobile products. Earlier he was one of the first employees at Tumblr, where he spent three years running media partnerships pre-Yahoo. Still further back into history he was a senior editor at Newsweek, with primary responsibility for social media and the creator of the Newsweek Tumblr, as well as handling Twitter, Facebook and other audience engagement platforms for the magazine.

Even further back, he was a writer and editor for Time magazine and was one of the first editors of its Website, Time.com. He’s a graduate of the University of Kansas, and does indeed believe that there’s no place like home.
