TransPerfect Gives AI, Chatbot Developers a COVID-19 Info Boost (MESA)

AI-assisted language and technology solutions firm TransPerfect is offering up for free its DataForce data collection and annotation service to AI and chatbot developers worldwide, in order to better provide information on COVID-19 across multiple languages, the company announced.

DataForce — which specializes in building AI experiences — has the ability to utilise global resources and technologies in order to aggregate and package data that could be useful in improving responsiveness to COVID-19, the company said. And with information around the pandemic constantly changing, AI-powered platforms have become more crucial than ever in order to get questions answered.

“These new channels are popular but not always up to date, and in a rapidly evolving global crisis, updated information and guidance is essential,” TransPerfect said in a statement. “The data set provided by TransPerfect will allow researchers and technology organizations to train smart chatbots that could substantially increase the coverage and appropriateness of responses provided by systems integrated into websites, social media services, virtual assistants, and other platforms.”

The DataForce training data set is available in English, Spanish, Arabic, and Mandarin, and is accessible at no charge, with interested organizations able to access the data set via the DataForce web site https://www.transperfect.com/dataforce/covid-19-chatbot. TransPerfect has also created a demo chatbot that can answer COVID-19 questions. While not publicly available, live demonstrations are available.

“The TransPerfect DataForce AI team has produced a data set that will help clients provide COVID-19 information in multiple languages — and, as the fight against the pandemic requires effective communication, we’ve decide to make this data set available free of charge,” said TransPerfect president and CEO Phil Shawe.
