Vendors to Share Latest Insights During Global M&E Day

More than 15 of the media and entertainment industry’s top vendors will be on hand 2 July during the Global Media & Entertainment Day event being presented live, virtually, from London.

Attendees will have four breakouts session tracks to choose from — data, cloud, AI/ML/CX and the supply chain, and security — with vendors sharing how they’ve managed the industry’s new normal during the pandemic.

Here’s a brief look at what attendees can choose from:

Data:

• “We Will Rock You: Preserving the Richest History of Rock and Roll Footage for Future Generations” has Tape Ark CMO Kyle Evans sharing how his company, with partner Seagate, safely restored more than 2,800 hours (350 TB) of preservation-level video files for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, using innovating every step of the way.

• Paul Hastings, SVP of sales, EMEA, for Whip Media Group, will offer insight into the use of “straight-to-home” distribution strategies during the pandemic and how that has changed the well-established theatrical release window, in the presentation “Defining the New Normal for Theatrical Releases, Opportunities for Studios and Platforms.”

• “Fan at Home: Redefining the Fan Experience for the New Normal” has Paul Hennebury, GM of sports and entertainment for ATMECS stressing in today’s new sports and entertainment world it’s far more critical than ever to understand fan behavior and more essential to break that behavior down to drive new revenue streams.

• Kip Welch, executive director for EIDR, will give attendees an idea of the new platform launched by EIDR in April 2020, which includes a new de-duplication software system and complete move to the cloud, in “Latest Developments with the Entertainment ID Registry (EIDR).”

Cloud:

• 5th Kind CEO Steve Cronan diving into secure review tool sets, accelerated large-file uploads, distribution — from home — and 5th Kind’s upcoming new features such as its watermarked Real-Time Synced Review Player for collaborative team sessions and the ALE Importer for post-production assemblies, in the presentation “Streamlining & Securing Collaboration in a Work-From-Home World.”

• “Are we Experiencing a Watershed Moment for the Cloud?” has Signiant CMO Jon Finegold sharing thoughts on how companies have leveraged our SaaS products to adapt to the global crisis, how workflows have changed and what changes might stick even as the world begins to return to some level of normalcy.

The talk — “Windowless Video Distribution: Embracing this ‘Black Swan’ Moment” — will also highlight customer use cases for both consumer-facing and B2B entertainment properties.

AI, ML, CX and the Supply Chain:

• “I Know What You’re Going To Watch Next Summer: 5 New Ways Media Companies Use Machine Learning to Massively Grow Revenues by Decoding & Influencing Viewer Behavior” will have Shiv Sehgal, chief product officer for RSG Media, discuss how behavioral audience insights show you how to steal competitors’ viewers and lock them in, how to drive tune-in by throwing away the rule-books, and to divert advertisers dollars to your shows.

• “Using Machine Learning to Transform Creative Talent Management” will have Matt Holzapfel, solutions lead for Tamr, going over how using machines (specifically, machine learning) can serve up analytics-ready data from disparate data, nd how creative talent management firms can create very human stories with mutually successful outcomes for clients and media companies, time and time again.
