EditShare Upgrades EFSv Platform to Shed Cloud Editing Costs (HITS)

Media creation and management storage solutions firm EditShare has announced upgrades to its EFSv virtualized video editing and storage platform, to lower infrastructure costs by utilizing both object and block storage located in the cloud, while also allowing for the use of third-party tools teams are already used to working with. The upgraded solution promises to allow for savings of up to 75% compared to the existing costs around cloud storage and workstations, EditShare said, and solves for the workarounds associated with proxy editing and conforming, while facilitating proxy editing for editors using Adobe, Avid, Blackmagic Design and Grass Valley.
“The economics of cloud production have been a barrier to widespread adoption for media companies everywhere. Often it is considered as a back-up plan or short-term workaround to a specific situation or project,” said EditShare CEO Conrad Clemson. “While other solutions provide a Band-Aid for the problems, we have actually solved it. The innovative implementation of the seamless proxy editing feature of EFSv unlocks the power of the cloud as the last piece of the content supply chain.”
The EFSv upgrade comes as media and entertainment companies have moved many operations to work-from-home environments, requiring heavier usage of cloud services. Jacob Groshek, research manager for IDC’s Analytics and Information Management group, said that by integrating cloud-based management that simplifies workflows and reduces storage costs, solutions like EditShare’s prioritize content creators.
