ThinkAnalytics Gives Tata Sky a Recommendations Boost (SCN)

Content discovery specialists ThinkAnalytics has announced a new partnership with Indian distributor Tata Sky, with the broadcast satellite TV provider using ThinkAnalytics to enable personalized content recommendations on the Tata Sky mobile app for iOS and Android devices, as well as its web site, watch.tatasky.com.

“Tata Sky is using our enhanced metadata management solution and viewer behavior analysis to differentiate its OTT offering and demonstrate technology leadership in India,” said ThinkAnalytics CTO Peter Docherty. “Not only do users now benefit from an experience tailored to their tastes, but we are helping Tata Sky’s business win with increased viewer engagement.”

ThinkAnalytics’ recommendation engine allows subscribers to discover content based on genres, language and cast preferences, based on the viewer’s last visit to the platform, using artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies.

“Personalized Banners,” “Channels For You,” “Live Now For You,” and “Trending Events,” among others, are the use cases ThinkAnalytics’ offering is bringing to content distributors, including the Tata Sky mobile app and web site, which give subscribers access to 400-plus live channels and more than 5,000 TV and movie titles.

“Also important to Tata Sky was ThinkAnalytics’ proven ability to scale to the operator’s base of millions of users, as well as its track record in helping video service providers boost engagement and loyalty,” the company said in a press release.
