White House AI, Robotics Expert to Keynote Feb. 27 Smart Hollywood Summit

When President Obama saw the need to commercialize, research and adopt a policy around robotics and AI, he turned to Dr. Eric Daimler, a leading authority with more than 20 years of experience in the field as an entrepreneur, investor, academic, and policymaker. His message? While Daimler sees “no Terminator apocalypse,” he does see urgency in understanding AI’s possibilities.

Daimler will be delivering this message to the Smart Hollywood Summit (formerly the Smart Content Summit) stage as part of his keynote presentation on Feb. 27, at the Skirball Center in Los Angeles.

“My message aims to bridge corporations and people into the imminent new age so that they may thrive and prosper,” Daimler said. “Those who hear me speak will leave knowing that they, too, have a role to play in a future that was once the stuff of science fiction.”

Daimler’s keynote will kick-off a day-long conference that addresses the transformative effect that AI, blockchain, metadata, OTT and automated processes are already having on the way that Hollywood green lights, produces and distributes its content to an increasingly diverse world audience.

“This year’s ‘Smart’ summit has been rebranded to reflect this new technology era that Hollywood is entering, one in which the word ‘digital’ is now a given and the emphasis must now be on creating ‘smart’ content, systems and customer engagement,” said MESA president Guy Finley.

As a Presidential Innovation Fellow in the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy during the Obama Administration, Daimler helped drive the agenda for U.S. leadership in research, commercialization, and public adoption of robotics & AI.

He has also served as assistant dean and assistant professor of software engineering in Carnegie Mellon’s School of Computer Science and his specialization in public policy and economics, helped launch Carnegie Mellon’s Silicon Valley Campus, and founded its Entrepreneurial Management program. He is the co-founder and CEO of SpinGlass, a multi-tiered investment platform for the adoption of emerging robotics & AI technology, and he is the author of the forthcoming book “Your Augmented Future,” a guidebook for entrepreneurs, engineers, policymakers, and citizens on how to understand — and benefit from — the unfolding revolution in robotics & AI.

This year’s Smart Hollywood Summit is being produced by MESA’s Smart Content Council with title-sponsorship by IBM Watson. To register and for more information on the program visit: https://www.mesaonline.org/conferences/smart-content-2019
