Asset Management

DXC Technology Selected by New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority to Transform Asset Management Capabilities (HITS)

DXC Technology has been selected by the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority, one of the world’s largest public transit authorities, to transform its enterprise asset management capabilities and support its digital transformation journey. Under the multi-year engagement, DXC will deploy a next-generation enterprise asset management (EAM) solution to help plan, track and optimize maintenance activities of MTA assets and infrastructure for its 236 miles of routes.

As part of this collaborative effort with the MTA, DXC has established a Center of Expertise in New York to implement best practices in asset management and performance. This includes DXC working with the MTA to hire and train engineering interns and graduates from New York City universities who will support all aspects of the EAM solution.

EAM best practices can improve asset capacity and availability, resulting in cost savings over the life of the asset, and more importantly, improved journey experiences with fewer disruptions in service and delays from equipment failures.

“DXC and NY MTA are working together to improve the performance of rail assets and infrastructure, applying preventive and predictive solutions that will reduce unplanned downtime and service disruptions across the rail network,” said Carlos Lopez-Abadia, vice president and general manager, DXC Consulting. “This solution will help the MTA improve the on-time performance of trains and enhance the journey for its 15 million customers each week.”

The MTA is teaming with DXC for a solution to empower MTA employees with real-time access to critical information at the point of service to keep trains and buses running safely, efficiently and reliably. This will also help deliver significant cost savings across maintenance activities and asset life cycles.

“With more technically sophisticated enterprise asset management solutions, the enterprise is finally seeing a clearer picture of its physical assets,” said Kevin M. Permenter, senior research analyst for IDC’s Enterprise Application and Digital Commerce practice. “This picture brings a complete view of the assets’ impact on the overall corporate financial position, which is also a significant factor in growth of the EAM market.”
