HITS Fall: EIDR Workshop to Tackle Supply Chain, TAXI Complete

Following a full morning of keynotes, panels and use-case presentations Oct. 4 at the Hollywood Innovation & Technology Summit (HITS) Fall event in Los Angeles, the heads of the Entertainment ID Registry (EIDR) will host a series of discussions around the latest with the identifier technology.

The “Entertainment Identifier Registry (EIDR) Workshop” begins at 4 p.m. at the Skirball Center, and is one of four breakout track sessions being held that afternoon. Here’s a look at what EIDR has on tap:

• “EIDR and the International Supply Chain” sees EIDR executive director Will Kreth offering an update of the roadmap for EIDR, and sharing how the media and entertainment industry is currently engaged in several collaborative initiatives with the potential to revolutionize how content is accessed, processed and distributed. He’ll offer details around the key catalysts for optimized workflow and automation.

• “Setting a New Standard in Cross-Platform Identification: TAXI Complete” has Kreth, Harold Geller, executive director of Ad-ID, and Steve Davis, global product director of Kantar Media, discussing the TAXI Complete standards, which provide single embedding capabilities for binding ids to assets via audio watermark. The standards help enable more accurate tracking and measurement across platforms, and the trio will discuss how the implementation of universal IDs has the potential to benefit everyone in the ecosystem, and opens up new avenues in second screen synching.

• Richard Kroon, technical director for EIDR, will share content company use cases that have helped companies increase efficiency and integrate titles into existing workflows and supply chains, in the presentation “EIDR Member Q&A – Stories from the Front Lines of Workflow Optimization.” Attendees will learn how to take asset and title management to new levels with tips and tricks.

In total more than 1,000 senior studio executives and their technology partners attended last year’s HITS Fall, making it the largest industry conference of the season in Los Angeles. HITS Fall will also host membership meetings and technology briefings for both the Trusted Partner Network (TPN) and EIDR.

HITS Fall is sponsored by Amazon Web Services, Box, Microsoft Azure, Ooyala, TiVo, Cognizant, DXC Technology, LiveTiles, Gracenote, ThinkAnalytics, Wasabi, Aspera, EIDR, MicroStrategy, the Trusted Partner Network, human-I-T, Zaszou IT Consulting, OnPrem Solution Partners, and Bob Gold & Associates, and is produced by the Media & Entertainment Services Alliance (MESA), in association with the Content Delivery & Security Association (CDSA), the Hollywood IT Society (HITS), the Smart Content Council and Women in Technology Hollywood (WiTH).
