Creative Collaboration with China Headlines DEG Fall Meeting

DEG: The Digital Entertainment Group’s fall membership meeting in Los Angeles will feature multiple discussions around Hollywood’s creative relationship with China.

The Sept. 25 afternoon event will be held at the Luxe Sunset Boulevard Hotel, and features a special keynote, “Creative Collaboration with China.” Bill Sondheim, president of Cinedigm Entertainment Group, will kick off the discussion with an introduction, before Chris McGurk, chairman and CEO of Cinedigm, Bill Mechanic, chairman and CEO of Pandemonium Films and Bannett Pozil, EVP and head of corporate of banking for EastWest Bank, dive into the topic.

That discussion will be followed by a Chinese market insight presentation by Dan Cryan, executive director of research and analytics for HIS Markit, with an introduction by Chris Lo, director of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council.

The event closes with the feature discussion “Entertainment Business Opportunities in China and the U.S.,” moderated by Stewart Till, president of Till Entertainment. He’ll be joined by Marc Gareton, EVP of international Asia-Pacific and international productions for Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, Kaichen Li, GM of video strategy department and overseas business department for Tencent Video, Maggie Miao, VP of TV distribution and marketing for Perfect World Pictures Co., Doris Pfardrescher, president and CEO of Well Go USA, and Daniel Solnicki, EVP of business operations for NBCUniversal.

Additionally, participating in the event will be a delegation of producers from China’s Film and TV Import and Export Association (FTIEA).

“Part of DEG’s mission is to provide members with leading-edge knowledge and resources about emerging trends and technologies to prepare for growth,” said Amy Jo Smith, CEO and president of DEG. “In this vein, this program will delve into how media and entertainment companies in the U.S. and China can work more closely to refine storytelling and script development to improve content performance across existing and emerging distribution platforms, and how the evolving distribution landscape may affect future revenue potential for content in both markets.”
