An EPIC Cloud Program Scheduled for July 24 M&E Day

During the July 24 Media & Entertainment Day at the Microsoft Conference Center in New York, Microsoft is sponsoring a new series of discussions centered around cloud production workflows, technologies and innovations.

Dubbed Entertainment Production in the Cloud (EPIC), the half-day program will see strategies and case studies presented on Microsoft Azure-based solutions, including:

• “The Cloud Creative Process: from Concept to Device to Screen,” with Scott Bounds, U.S. media and cable industry lead for Microsoft, exploring how the video creative process is being transformed via cloud collaboration tools and devices.

• “Cloud-Scale Rendering for Media,” with Joel Sloss, senior program manager for Microsoft Azure, leading a panel discussion on how to create cloud render farms on-demand, using any number of nodes to build animations and special effects, and how to efficiently utilize the cloud, hybrid and on-premises environments. Panelists include Bernie Behn, program manager for Avere, and Jeremy Smith, CTO of Jellyfish Pictures.

• “How Azure Can Help Content Creators,” a keynote presentation from Mark Miller, principal program manager for Microsoft Azure, looking at the investments and capabilities Microsoft’s Azure engineering team is bring to the industry.

• “Enabling Cloud workflows with AI,” with Craig Dwyer, senior director of Avids Global Center of Excellence, Emily Hopson-Hill, VP of services for Ooyala, and Martin Wahl, principal program manager of cloud, AI and cognitive services for Microsoft, discussing how to enable video workflows in the public cloud, globally and securely from across the world.
