HITS Spring Sees Metadata, Personalization Advances Discussed

The annual HITS Spring: The Hollywood Innovation & Technology Summit returns to Los Angeles on May 17 with a series of hyper-focused sessions on metadata and personalization efforts in the industry.

Kicking off the “Metadata, Personalization & Assets” portion of the program at 9:45 a.m., David Arnold, director of product strategy for Dow Jones, and Ian Cameron, VP of digital media for Expert System, will share the second part of their discussion “Turning a Billion Articles into Actionable Insights using AI, Part II,” will, using case study analysis, look at today’s questions and concerns around risk and compliance, the new GDPR regulations, and more.

At 4 p.m., Matt Turner, CTO of media and manufacturing for MarkLogic and Robert Maxwell, VP of information technology worldwide television for Sony Pictures Entertainment, are set to discuss the work of bringing together all the data around content, including the operational and enterprise data smart content, to make that content “smart,” in the presentation “Smart Content Connecting the Data Behind the Hits with Sony Pictures.”

Finally at 4:30 p.m., in the presentation “Embedding AI into Media & Entertainment Businesses,” Anand Bisen, principle solutions architect of advanced analytics, and
David Perona, director of customer intelligence, both with SAS, will share how media and entertainment clients embed AI and machine learning into their business processes, from marketing to ad sales and data security.

HITS Spring expects to see several hundred senior studio technology leaders gathering for the 9th annual “reality check” on the key trends transforming the way content is being produced, distributed and consumed.
