NAB Show: MESA Member Workflow Solutions Spotlighted

Some of the members of the Media & Entertainment Services Alliance (MESA) representing the workflow solutions space at the NAB Show previewed here include Ooyala, Oracle, Prime Focus Technologies, RSG Media Systems, SHIFT, Signiant, Sohonet, Sony, Tata Communications, Thinklogical, Verizon Digital Media Services, Vistex and Wazee Digital.

Here’s a look at what each company is bringing to the show:

Ooyala

Ooyala will be in Las Vegas to unveil its the Ooyala Flex Media Platform, a video production and delivery platform that aims to streamline the process of managing, analyzing and monetizing content.

The Ooyala Flex Media Platform promises to offer a unified framework that optimizes the content supply chain, from pre-production all the way to publishing, providing central workflows, shared metadata infrastructure and APIs. The platform leverages both automation and artificial intelligence to streamline video workflows and processes, connect teams and tools for collaboration, and enable better metadata and analytics. Oracle

Oracle’s full suite of media and entertainment solutions will be on hand, offering secure and intelligent media experiences combined with performance and efficiency for transcoding, media access management, metadata annotation, digital animation rendering, and active archiving. Oracle’s offerings are designed for running both on-premise as well as in the cloud, allowing media and entertainment companies to maximize the value of their archived digital content, while also lowering their storage costs. Prime Focus Technologies

Sprawling supply chains and the sheer number of touch points content passes through from start to end today is cause for headaches among content creators. At the 2018 NAB Show, Prime Focus Technologies will look to help alleviate those headaches, with the technology arm of Prime Focus unveiling several industry-first additions to its flagship product CLEAR Media ERP

PFT will share new, transformational solutions built on the back of CLEAR’s work order management, pre-integrated with its media asset management (MAM), workflow engine and video tools, including:

• Content Acquisition Portal: Automated Work Order to manage planning, acquiring, evaluating, cataloguing and scheduling content. The Content Acquisition Portal serves as an entry point for all media and ancillary files used in the creation of mezzanine format masters for the supply chain.

• OTT Distribution Cloud: A solution that simplifies the complexities of OTT distribution through automated work orders, from scheduling to delivery. Its features include schedule-driven work orders, a unified dashboard for tracking task status, and integration with scheduling and rights managements systems. The solution leverages automation to detect missing inventory items and enables users to deliver packages in increments.

• CLEAR Ingest: One cloud-based software to manage end-to-end workflows for satellite and terrestrial distribution, providing a single software solution that integrates and automates ingest, prep, QC and distribution workflows, while providing real-time dashboards and notification alerts.

• CLEAR Digital Lab: Powered by Microsoft Azure, CLEAR Digital Lab automates the content supply chain, connecting the production ecosystem, and acting as the Media Universe for secure content operations, from content acquisition through distribution and archiving.

• Cloud MAM: With work order automation to manage tasks efficiently across the supply chain, CLEAR Cloud MAM is a single MAM with media management capabilities across global sites, integrating production, distribution, broadcasting and OTT related business activities. SL9605, [email protected]

RSG Media Systems

RSG Media Systems will share the latest with its RightsLogic enterprise rights management system, showing off advanced scheduling and finance features. The service’s recently released next-gen avails tool accelerates how businesses find and exploit rights in their catalog. RSG Media’s Media Mantra platform also helps companies instantly adopt AI to improve performance, as changing viewership behavior continues to disrupt the industry. SHIFT

SHIFT, the new software-as-a-service brand name born from the merger of video sharing tech company MediaSilo and file-sharing platform firm Wiredrive, will share the latest with its video collaboration solutions, streamlining the process of sharing and securing creative assets, making available tools that can be used across agencies, brands and post-production.

The SHIFT brand covers four flagship products: MediaSilo, the set of tools for secure video collaboration and pre-release content delivery to the post-production market; Wiredrive, used by agencies and creative professionals to review, curate and share content; SafeStream, an on-demand and real-time forensic watermarking service; and Screeners.com, a secure destination for the previewing of pre-release content. Signiant

For Signiant, the company will share the latest with several of its solutions, including Media Shuttle, a hybrid SaaS solution that allows for quick and secure file transfers worldwide; Flight, an auto-scaling SaaS utility that accelerates the transfer of large data sets into and out of cloud object storage; and Manager+Agents, an enterprise software solution for automated delivery of large files across geographically dispersed locations. Sohonet

Sohonet will showcase the newest release of its real-time remote collaboration solution, ClearView Flex, an on-the-go, real-time remote collaboration solution, which offers key creatives and production executives the ability to review live encrypted video streams in real-time, from anywhere on their mobile, tablet or PC. It’s capable of streaming to any device with only two frames of delay. Sohonet will also demo its accelerated file-transfer tool FileRunner, which allows unlimited transfer of files of any size, and has been architected for easy 100% browser-based usage. Sony

Sony will be showcasing new end-to-end workflow solutions at the NAB Show in Las Vegas that are designed to help its many professional customers thrive amid the rapidly changing media landscape, according to company executives. The company’s customers can use Sony’s latest solutions for high dynamic range (HDR), 4K, IP and media workflow to help them transform their operations, he said. A massive video wall — 32 feet wide by 18 feet high — at the booth will showcase footage shot on Sony’s new 8K studio camera that will be used at the Tokyo Olympics in summer 2020, he told reporters. Sony will also heavily tout HDR workflow solutions.

Also touted at Sony’s NAB Show booth will be its latest pro audio devices and the booth was also arranged to showcase Sony’s workflow efficiency solutions. Tata Communications

Thinklogical

Belden Brand’s Thinklogical will showcase a new all-in-one solution for extending virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) architectures in media and entertainment, with live demonstrations at its booth. The TLX Client Integration module is a full-featured virtual machine processor combined with a high-performance keyboard, video and mouse (KVM) extender, eliminating the need for a separate client device in VDI implementations. The system can be installed in point-to-point applications or implemented in conjunction with a Thinklogical matrix switch, enabling connectivity between multiple sources and user destinations for enhanced productivity and collaborative workflows.

Vistex

Vistex will be at NAB Show showing how it delivers cross-platform solutions that support the entire broadcast licensing workflow. From acquisition to run-play performance analysis, royalties and participations to revenue recognition, the company’s software tracks everything associated with rights for studios, broadcasters, operators, game creators, and distributors. Wazee Digital

At the 2018 NAB Show, Wazee Digital will highlight Digital Media Hub, its centralized, software-as-a-service (SaaS) based solution that allows video content to be captured and made immediately available for global access. Customers can acquire, distribute, enhance, license, and publish metadata-enriched media gleaned from production, post-production, marketing, and live-event environments.
