MESA Adds to Editorial Staff, Ups Tribbey to Director

The Media & Entertainment Services Alliance (MESA) has made two moves to help improve the editorial content of its series of newsletters and web sites, promoting senior writer Chris Tribbey to editorial director, and adding veteran technology journalist Jeff Berman as its new reporter.

Tribbey, who has been MESA’s senior reporter since December 2013, will take on oversight of MESA’s series of newsletters, including the “M&E Daily,” the “Content Delivery & Security Association” cyber security newsletter, the Hollywood IT Society’s “HITS List,” and the twice-a-week “Smart Content News.” He’ll be responsible for coordinating media and entertainment news for each newsletter and its corresponding web site, including news from MESA’s 90-plus member companies. He will also continue to report for MESA.

An award-winning journalist with more than 20 years experience, Tribbey recently worked as an editor and reporter for the Hollywood trade publication “Home Media Magazine,” and has had his work published in “Variety,” “The Hollywood Reporter,” “The Sporting News,” “USA Today” and “Sports Illustrated.” Before specializing in media and entertainment, Tribbey was a reporter and editor with several newspapers, including the “North County Times,” the “Napa Valley Register” and the “Oakland Tribune.” He will continue to be based in Los Angeles, and will report to MESA’s executive directors Marty Porter and Guy Finley.

Berman comes to MESA with two decades of reporting experience in the media, consumer electronics and technology sector, with his work published in “Dealerscope,” “This Week in Consumer Electronics,” the Consumer Technology Association’s “Digital America,” the “Miami Herald,” the “New York Business Journal,” “TheStreet” and more. For nearly a decade, Berman served in senior editor roles for the industry trade newsletter “Consumer Electronics Daily” and was an editor and reporter with its publisher, Warren Communications News, for 15 years, also writing for its newsletters, including “Television Digest.” He will be based in New York.

“I’m truly excited to take on this new role, working with Jeff and newsletter editor Jeff Hyatt to make each MESA newsletter a unique source for media and entertainment news,” Tribbey said. “From cyber security to digital supply chain services, MESA and its membership put a focus on areas of the M&E space that otherwise would be underserved.”
