Important Security Updates

Adobe AIR: Adobe has released version 21.0.0.176. Updates are available from Adobe’s website.

Adobe Flash Player: Adobe has released version 21.0.0.182. Updates are available from Adobe’s website.

Dropbox: Dropbox has released version 3.14.8 for its file hosting program. Updates are available at Dropbox’s website. [See Citadel’s warning below]

Mozilla Firefox: Mozilla has released version 45.0. Updates are available within the browser or from Mozilla’s website.

Google Chrome: Google has released Google Chrome version 49.0.2623.87. Updates are available from within the browser or from Google Chrome’s website.

LastPass for Windows: LastPass has released version 4.1.3 of LastPass for Windows. Updates are available from the LastPass website.

Microsoft Patch Tuesday: Microsoft’s Patch Tuesday released 13 updates to address at least 39 vulnerabilities, some of which are highly critical within Windows operating systems, Internet Explorer, Office, and other Microsoft products.  Details are available at Microsoft’s website.

Skype: Skype has released Skype 7.21.0.100. Updates are available from the program or Skype’s website.

Dropbox 3.14.8 [Citadel warns against relying on security of Dropbox or other cloud-based file exchange systems. We recommend files containing sensitive information be independently encrypted with a program like Axcrypt; encryption keys be at least 15 characters long; and the master Dropbox [or other] password be at least 15 characters long and different from other passwords.]

Java SE 8 Update 73 [Citadel recommends removing or disabling Java from your browser. Java is a major source of cyber criminal exploits. It is not needed for most internet browsing. If you have a particular web site that requires Java, Citadel recommends using a two-browser approach to minimize risk. If you normally browse the Web with Firefox, for example, disable the Java plugin in Firefox and use an alternative browser — such as Chrome, IE9, Safari, etc — with Java enabled to browse only the sites that require it.]

Cisco Multiple Products: Cisco reports patched vulnerabilities in its Cisco TelePresence Video Communication Server (VCS) running software release X8.5.2 or X8.5.1, ASA 5500 Series CSC-SSM devices running any 6.6 software release prior to 6.6.1164.0, Model DPQ3925 8×4 DOCSIS 3.0 Wireless Residential Gateway with EDVA, DPC3941 Wireless Residential Gateway with Digital Voice, DPC3939B Wireless Residential Voice Gateway, Cable Modem with Digital Voice Models DPC2203 and EPC2203, and All releases of Cisco IOS XR for Cisco GSR 12000 Series Routers. Apply updates. Cisco also reports unpatched vulnerabilities in all versions of Cisco Prime LAN Management Solution (LMS). No workarounds are available.
