Evolution Digital Launches New IP Video Platform

By Chris Tribbey

Evolution Digital — which offers integrated IP hybrid devices and video solutions to the cable industry — acquired i-Velozity and its IP VOD platform for cable and telco companies in July. This week Evolution Digital gave the platform a rebrand.

The Centennial, Colo.-based company is launching eVUE-TV, a solution that combines thousands of hours of VOD content aggregated with live cable TV content on one platform.

“Evolution Digital is pioneering technology in the cable industry to fit the needs of the consumer by providing cable operators cost-effective solutions to increase revenue and stabilize retention,” said Brent Smith, president and CTO of Evolution Digital. “With eVUE-TV, cable providers can now combine the most popular VOD titles with their live TV offerings onto one seamless and easy-to-use platform while avoiding costly infrastructure upgrades.”

Evolution Digital is touting eVUE-TV as a low-cost solution for cable operators to deploy IP linear and VOD content to customers, using Evolution Digital’s central content distribution hub (based in Chicago) or via a distributed platform inside the cable operator’s content delivery network (CDN).

eVUE-TV will let smaller operators focus on picking up revenue from impulse purchases on both VOD and PPV, Evolution Digital said, thanks to its ability to become aware of consumer viewing preferences, which eVUE-TV uses to curate recommended content for viewers.

Next for eVUE-TV, Evolution Digital will launch a new user interface for every device the platform appears on, including connected TVs, OTT streaming devices, tablets, smartphones and desktops.
