Cybercrime Solutions Top Agenda of ISSA-LA Information Security Summit (CDSA)

By Chris Tribbey

This week will see the seventh annual Information Security Summit, held by the Los Angeles Chapter of the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA-LA).

And while attendees at this year’s event can expect the usual — a full day of security management programs for security and IT professionals, with the best and brightest in the cyber security industry on hand — there’s something unique about the June 4 program, according to ISSA-LA president Stan Stahl.

The unprecedented cyber attack against Sony last year has put everyone in the media and entertainment industry on notice, he said: cyber security for content companies can no longer be reactionary. And protecting your content is just part of the equation.

“As we discussed at our panel at the recent HITS (Hollywood IT Society) conference, the Sony attack has created a ‘new normal’ for the entertainment industry, where managing information security is becoming as important as managing content security,” Stahl told the Content Delivery & Security Association (CDSA). “This makes our summit the must-attend event for both information security and IT professionals, and for the executives responsible for managing these important areas.”

The theme of the June 4 Information Security Summit — “The Growing Cyber Threat: Protect Your Business” — reflects the agenda, and the challenges content companies are facing today, Stahl said. The summit includes a chief information security officer (CISO) forum, an executive forum for CEOs, COOs, chief legal officers and chief risk officers, as well as a special security management boot camp for IT professionals.

Renowned security technologist Bruce Schneier and Dave Kennedy, founder of information security firm TrustedSec, are the keynote speakers for the summit. Summit tracks will cover security management, digital forensics, emerging issues and new technologies.

““ISSA-LA is proud to have CDSA and HITS as organizational sponsors of the Summit. Since Los Angeles is the entertainment capitol of the world, ISSA-LA is reaching out to this industry and inviting everyone with information security responsibilities to attend the summit,” Stahl said. “These are the people who must work together to prevent cyber attacks like the one that attacked Sony Corp.”

Members of CDSA and HITS have access to a 20% discount on registration for the Information Security Summit, using the code ZH3WL3. ISSA-LA will also hold an opening reception the night of June 3 at the City Tavern in downtown Los Angeles. To RSVP, click here.
