Associate, Data Analytics – Investigations & Disputes

As the originator of the modern, independent internal investigation, over our 45-year history Kroll has conducted thousands of investigations worldwide. Clients have entrusted us with assisting them to resolve some of their most difficult and business critical challenges. Our investigative services include financial investigations, internal investigations, regulatory investigations, asset searches, brand protection, forensic accounting, dispute advisory services, litigation support, business intelligence, proxy contests, intellectual property infringement and product counterfeiting, and regulatory or court-ordered monitorships. Kroll’s I&D practice is staffed with a multidisciplinary team of professionals who include former prosecutors, law enforcement officers and journalists, as well as certified public and forensic accountants, data analytics experts, and certified fraud examiners.

Position Overview: The, Data Analytics Associate will assist in the Investigations & Disputes practice by enhancing Kroll’s current data analytics capabilities, providing clarity around prospective clients, resource identification, competitor intelligence and Kroll’s overall abilities across various industries and regions to enhance market presence.

Responsibilities:

Design, develop and deliver robust data analytics solutions to clients across multiple regions and industries
Effectively communicate data analytics concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders
Stay abreast of industry developments contributing to Kroll’s mission of applying innovative analytics to compliance and investigations
Take ownership of project planning and deliverables, providing consistent, high-quality work products using reliable analytics methodology
Ensure ethical conduct, compliance with legal requirements, and conformity with industry best practices while handling and analyzing confidential client data
Identify, assess and effectively manage project risks, exercising judgment to escalate issues
Contribute to the development of new opportunities, and thought leadership through collaboration with other client and Kroll departments and via presentation of Kroll’s Data Analytics
Prepare data analytics reporting and visualization work products and share effectively with project team and client stakeholders
Business travel of up to 25% both domestic and international

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
Educational background in any combination of the following: Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Science, etc.
3-4 years of relevant work experience, either in-house or on a project basis with a professional services or consulting firm
Demonstrated interest and ability to make sense of large data sets to obtain actionable insights
Exposure to data analytics, investigations, financial crimes, risk assessments, regulatory compliance, and/or forensic accounting
Baseline understanding of, and continued interest in: data analytics applications to anti-bribery and corruption, anti-money laundering and anti-fraud
Appreciation for data security and data privacy provisions including legal implications, coupled with strong commitment to measuring and maintaining data quality
Strong communication, teamwork and prioritization skills within a client facing environment
Proficiency in relational databases and visual analytics tools, including SQL Management Studio (or equivalent/similar), or Tableau (or equivalent/similar)
Familiarity with proprietary and open-source statistics software, e.g. Matlab, Stata, R, etc.
Demonstrated interest in emerging data analytics technologies, including but not limited to: text analytics, concept mining, audio and video analytics, predictive modeling, natural language processing, etc.
