Ralf Jacob is the president for Verizon Digital Media Services, bringing more than 20 years of technical and executive management experience to the organization.

Prior to his current role, Jacob served as the chief revenue officer for the company. He initially joined through Verizon’s acquisition of upLynk, an online video platform specializing in the simplification of a broadcaster’s workflow, where he was the CEO and co-founder.

Prior to launching upLynk, Jacob served as vice president of digital media for Deluxe Digital Studios, guiding the development of new product ideas for over-the-top (OTT) streaming initiatives, building and conceptualizing second screen apps for major Hollywood studios, and rolling out token-based digital/e-copy online portals for companies such as HBO and Universal Studios.

Previously, Jacob served as senior vice president of engineering & operations for Move Networks, where he was responsible for R&D and management of the adaptive streaming technology used by more than 100 million users and deployed to sites such as ABC, FOX, CWTV, ESPN360, ProSieben and Televisa. He was also in charge of Comcast’s TV Everywhere initiative that was rolled out to 24 million Comcast subscribers in 2009. Prior to his tenure at Move Networks, he served as vice president of engineering at Knowledge Universe and vice president of engineering at iXL.

Jacob has an extensive technical background, starting his career as a software engineer. His ability to thread technology with business strategy along with his proven development track record has quickly propelled him into prominent executive engineering positions at the industry’s leading technology companies. He has spent years building and leading highly effective engineering teams through his passion for technology, creative problem solving and the ability to adapt to an ever-changing industry.

Jacob earned bachelor’s degrees in marketing and computer science from Fachhochschule Wiesbaden, Germany and was also a member of the German Olympic diving team. He is a frequent speaker at industry events, tradeshows and conferences.
