Janet Graham Borba, HBO

Janet Graham Borba is senior vice president, West Coast Production, for Home Box Office, responsible for supervising production on all HBO original movies and miniseries. She was named to this position in May 2010.

Currently, Borba is working on the series Game of Thrones, as well as overseeing several films and miniseries in development, production or post, such as American Lion, All The Way, Confirmation and Wizard of Lies.

Past projects she’s worked on include the multiple award-winning miniseries Olive Kitteridge, The Pacific, John Adams and Angels in America, and the films Lackawanna Blues, Something the Lord Made, Iron Jawed Angels, Path to War, The Gathering Storm, Wit and RKO-281. Borba joined HBO as director, Production, HBO Films in 1995, and was promoted to vice president, Production, HBO Films in 2000, and later to senior vice president, Production, HBO Films in 2008.

Prior to HBO, Borba held various producer titles on studio productions including October Films’ Still Breathing, United Artists’ Hackers, Hollywood Pictures’ Camp Nowhere, Miramax’s The Night We Never Met and 20th Century Fox’s Hotshots! between 1991 and 1995.

She began her career in Washington, D.C. as a staff economist at the National Grain and Feed Association. She also worked as a project manager and in Leasing, Acquisitions and Feasibility at GLM Companies, a real estate development firm.

Borba is a member of the advisory board for the Virginia Film Festival and serves as an adjunct professor in the MFA Peter Stark Motion Picture Producing Program at USC.
She holds an MFA in Motion Picture Producing from the University of Southern California’s Peter Stark Producing Program, and a BA from the University of Virginia, where she was also an Echols Scholar.
