Screen Media Selects Sony’s Ci Media Cloud Platform for Centralized Media Production Workflow (MESA)

Screen Media has selected Sony’s Ci Media Cloud platform to centralize its media workflows in the cloud, using the Ci Company Network to gather, prepare and deliver content for clients across Norway on one media platform.

The Norwegian TV, film and content production company needed a solution that could support gathering files from remote locations, enable easy management of the content and provide visibility and collaboration related to the content. Screen Media began using Ci’s Team Workspace in June 2017, immediately leveraging flagship features including File Request, VideoReview and Mediabox to streamline its production workflow.

Kenneth Dammyr, CTO of Screen Media explained, “Our deployment of Ci has been rapid, our first implementation has primarily been for programme distribution and, to an extent, programme archive. We enjoy the ease in which we can share and review material between our offices and clients. Ci has contributed further to greater collaboration between our offices across Norway, with the establishment of a central repository for our graphics on the Ci Cloud platform. We are exploring the tool set that Ci provides to see where else this could benefit our clients and organsiation. “On set” wireless contribution from our pool of EFP/ENG cameras is one example of this.”

Using Ci’s File Request feature, footage captured on location is uploaded and automatically routed to the correct Team Workspace and shared with all Workspace members. This allows Screen Media’s clients to access captured content via the Workspace as soon as the files are uploaded – enabling clients to initiate the editing process sooner.

Screen Media also leverages Ci’s MediaBox feature to enable secure preview or delivery of content to external parties from any connected device.

For production projects, Screen Media taps into Ci’s VideoReview, a collaboration application that supports on-frame annotation and enables remote teams to share real-time feedback on video files. Screen Media’s various teams can share frameaccurate notes internally and externally with clients and other team members.

Sony’s Mick Sheehan outlined the added benefits of Ci being integrated with other Sony products: “With the adoption of the Ci platform, Screen Media is able to better manage media assets, collaborate with clients and minimize the time from the field to editing. Sony and Screen Media have worked together for some time now and we’re thrilled that we were able to be a strategic technology partner and help Screen Media take their production workflow to the cloud.”

As Screen Media expands its use of the Ci Media Cloud Platform, there are added benefits that will allow for expanded growth, integration and automation. Sony’s proven wireless camera-to-cloud capabilities allow direct upload to Ci Workspace and can help Screen Media gather and centralize content even faster.

Dammyr added, “Ci has allowed us to bring all of the content we gather from the field into one platform, where we can review and collaborate on files internally or with our clients and when we’re ready, deliver the finished clips from one central location. It simplifies our workflow and works beautifully. When choosing a partner for a media cloud, you need to be thinking of a long-term working relationship, so our trust in Sony made Ci a natural choice.”
