HITS Fall: Sohonet, LiveTiles Set to Discuss New Collaboration Tools

When more than 500 studio leaders and their technology partners gather Oct. 18 at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles for the annual HITS Fall event, among the sessions they’ll be choosing from to end the day are a collection on the use of the cloud and new workflows in the media and entertainment space.

And a leading topic is one every content company has on their mind today: remote collaboration.

Here’s a look at what’s on tap during the “Cloud, Workflow and Transformation” track of the HITS: Fall event.

• Tim Donovan, head of field engineering, and Drew Law, customer success manager, with Sohonet will kick things off at 4:!5 p.m. with the interactive session “Get Real Work Done on the Fly – Remote Collaboration for Video Editing.” With both production budgets and timelines tightening up, it’s the promise of remote collaboration tools that many companies are turning to. Using those tools to work seamlessly across distances, without sacrificing quality or security, will be the topic.

• In “Secure Burst Rendering to the Microsoft Cloud,” Joel Sloss, senior program manager for Microsoft Azure, will share how one studio, Jellyfish Pictures, used Azure to optimize burst capacity for its content, and will offer ideas on how to manage VFX workflows in the cloud securely.

• At 5:15 p.m., George Muir, futurist with LiveTiles, will share how company’s need to consider the impacts a digital transformation will have on their workforce, offering insights into the future mentality of your co-workers, where they’re going to want to work, and how you need to be flexible with your digital transformation strategy, in the session “The Future Workplace.”

The 2017 edition of HITS Fall is presented by Cast & Crew, with sponsorship by Ooyala, Sohonet, Microsoft Azure, Premiere Digital, TiVo, LiveTiles and Veritone.
