IBC 2017: Fortium Shows MediaSeal New Security Anti-Ransomware Feature with Aspera (MESA)

Fortium Technologies will demonstrate its latest solutions for protecting motion picture and television content against theft, accidental distribution and ransomware in tandem with Aspera, an IBM company, at IBC 2017 this month in Amsterdam.

Fortium’s MediaSeal® encryption at-rest and on-the-fly protection will be demonstrated as an integratable feature of Aspera’s high-speed file transfer and collaboration platform. Included will be a new MediaSeal security feature that detects and blocks ransomware from encrypting content. The demonstration will show how MediaSeal keeps sensitive content secure across the entire production workflow and not just during transfer.

“The increasing incidence of cybercrime makes it essential to apply additional security throughout the workflow,” said Fortium Technologies CEO Mathew Gilliat-Smith. “MediaSeal with its new anti-ransomware feature will provide the peace of mind companies need by making encryption happen automatically, transparently and uniformly. Files need never reside in unencrypted form on disk, in transit or post-delivery.”

MediaSeal’s new ransomeware blocking feature is designed to automatically prevent unrecognized programs from attempting to access sensitive files or folders. MediaSeal is able to filter and control programs at file level so that unrecognized and spoofed programs can be detected and blocked, providing a crucial additional layer of security.

“We recognize customers’ increasing concerns about keeping media content secure throughout their workflows. We are excited that Fortium is demonstrating solutions that integrate its content security with Aspera’s high-speed delivery technology.” said John Wastcoat Vice President Business Development at Aspera, an IBM company.
