Kreth Named Executive Director of EIDR

The Entertainment ID Registry (EIDR), a global registry of unique content identification for digital content distribution, has named Will Kreth as its new executive director, the group announced Aug. 29.

Kreth comes over from Showtime Networks, where he served as director of metadata management for nearly three years, overseeing guidelines and best practices for the channel’s video assets, including the implementation of EIDR registration for all content.

Kreth brings more than two decades of broadband and digital media experience to the role, with expertise in digital and media asset management systems (DAM and MAM), supply chain automation, and metadata workflows. His involvement with EIDR dates to the organization’s founding in 2010, during his time with Time Warner Cable (now Charter Communications).

He takes over for longtime EIDR executive director Don Dulchinos, who served in the role for more than five years.

“This is an important time in the development of ecosystems for delivering movies and TV to consumers,” Kreth said in a statement. “I’m excited for the opportunity to lead an organization that plays a critical role in enabling that development. I look forward to working with EIDR members and the industry to advance workflow automation and enable the efficiency and scale needed to deliver content to consumers, both globally and reliably.”

Based in New York, Kreth will report to the EIDR board, and will be charged with advancing the group’s mission to expand international adoption of EIDR and drive automation for digital content distribution.

“We are delighted that Will will be leading EIDR during our next phase of development,” said EIDR chairman Kip Welch. “Bringing the industry a common, robust identifier for media assets throughout the supply chain is so important to the ever-growing range of platforms where consumers are watching content. Will’s extensive experience in media management and metadata and his entrepreneurial spirit will be a real asset to our organization.”
