IBC 2017: 4K Charity Run to be Held Sept. 16 (MESA)

AWS Elemental will hold its next 4K 4Charity Fun Run Sept. 16 in Amsterdam as part of the IBC 2017 Conference and Exhibition, with proceeds from the event going to two charities: Stichting NewTechKids and Heifer International.

Since its first iteration at IBC in 2014, the 4K 4Charity Fun Run has raised more than $450,000 for nonprofit organizations, drawing nearly 4,000 participants combined. AWS Elemental hosts the charity run in Las Vegas and Portland as well. “We’re pleased to support the 4K 4Charity Fun Run and honored to help our industry community build awareness and raise funds for the vital cause of diversity and inclusion,” said IBC CEO Mike Crimp. “The fun run has established itself as an IBC tradition and a can’t-miss opportunity for individuals and companies to celebrate our industry, enjoy the beauty of Amsterdam and share their good fortune with worthy nonprofit beneficiaries.”

This year, the proceeds will benefit the Amsterdam-based Stichting NewTechKids, which encourages technological literacy among primary school students in low-income neighborhoods, and Heifer International, which works to feed impoverished people across 30 countries.

The 4K (2.49 mile) begins at 7:30 a.m. and goes through Amsterdam’s Amstelpark.

“IBC is where the 4K 4Charity Fun Run Series began and each year, the people and companies who participate make this event an incredibly fun and rewarding experience for all,” said Laura Barber of AWS Elemental and co-founder of the series. “As our industry recognizes the need—and seizes the opportunity — to expand its support for diversity and inclusion initiatives, we’re grateful for the generosity of IBC, our participants and sponsors who come together to support the important work of Heifer International and Stichting NewTechKids.”

Sponsors for this year’s event include Aspera, AWS Elemental, ABOX42, Dolby, Ooyala, Irdeto, Verimatrix, Brightcove, Conviva, Vizrt, ChyronHego, SVG Europe, New Bay Media and Rapid TV News.
