Content Company Keynotes to Cover Security, Metadata at July 25 M&E Day in NYC

Several studio and broadcast execs will be on hand July 25 at the Microsoft Media & Entertainment Day, at the Microsoft Technology Center (MTC) on Eighth Avenue in New York City, delivering keynotes on everything ranging from content security to the impact if artificial intelligence in media and entertainment.

Produced by the Media & Entertainment Services Alliance (MESA), the event will feature four half-day event programs, across two floors at the MTC, covering content protection, video in the cloud, artificial intelligence and machine learning, and metadata’s place in the content lifecycle.

Here’s a brief look at the keynotes on tap:

• At the Content Protection Summit: East (CPS) track, following opening remarks from Guy Finley, executive director of MESA, Stephen Fridakis, chief information security officer for HBO will be part of a panel discussing the “View from the Top – The State of Broadcast Security,” offering a deep dive into what information security teams are doing today to protect media and entertainment companies against cyberattacks.

• The 11:15 a.m. CPS keynote discussion “Importance of 3rd Party Audits in the M&E Ecosystem” will see Ben Stanbury, VP of technology security and risk management for The Walt Disney Studios, sharing the importance of making sure content owners and services are on the same page, when it comes to new industry policies, regulations and technologies.

• The Metadata Madness East track at 2:15 p.m. will see Steve Fastook, SVP of technical and commercial operations for CNBC, presenting the keynote “Forward Thinking – The Maturity Stage of AI in M&E,” where he’ll discuss the dramatic challenges media and entertainment executives are facing across business units, and how new technologies like artificial intelligence are helping to confront those challenges, better leveraging metadata and enhancing workflows.

• Also at Metadata Madness East at 3:30 p.m., Scott Maddux, VP of business development for TiVo, will deliver the keynote “Harnessing Machine Learning, A.I. & Metadata to Power-up Your Catalog & Super Glue Content to Viewers,” where he’ll share how emerging technologies are allowing content owners to make better use of metadata, to improve the user experience, search optimization, recommendations and ad targeting.
