Ooyala to Share AI, Metadata Insights at MESA’s Microsoft Media & Entertainment Day

Execs from online video tech company Ooyala will be on hand July 25 at the inaugural Microsoft Media & Entertainment Day, at the Microsoft Technology Center (MTC) on Eighth Avenue in New York City, offering insights into both the applications of artificial intelligence in the media and entertainment space and the latest advancements in metadata.

To kick off the Microsoft’s half-day event AI, Machine Learning and Bots, Jonathan Huberman, CEO of Ooyala, will be among those offering welcome remarks, along with Scott Bounds, U.S. media and cable industry lead for Microsoft. Huberman, who previously served as CEO of Syncplicity, Tiburon Inc., and Iomega Corp., has more than 30 years leadership experience in the tech space.

Later in that half-day track of sessions, Joey Fulcher, director of media logistics sales for the Americas for Ooyala, will be joined by Jeff Weber, CEO of ZoneTV, in the discussion “Launching the Country’s First Linear Pay-TV Network with AI,” which features a case study on how ZoneTV is launching an industry-first suite of channels applying AI to personalize the video experience for subscribers, with technology from Ooyala and Microsoft helping to enable to experience.

Fulcher oversees the business side of Ooyala Flex, the company’s media logistics solution.

Meanwhile, for the half-day Metadata Madness East event co-located at the Microsoft Media & Entertainment Day, Huberman will again be offering welcome remarks, along with Guy Finley, executive director of MESA, Mary Yurkovic, director of MESA’s Smart Content Council.

Later, Mike Petro, director of value engineering for Ooyala, will give attendees insights into how managing metadata across multiple workstreams can help avoid content overload for viewers, in the session “Why Metadata is King of Content.” Prior to joining Ooyala in 2013, Petro held solutions and product management positions awitht Limelight Networks, GrabMedia, The FeedRoom and Kit Digital (now Piksel).
