Tata Communications, Alibaba Partner on Enterprise Cloud Solution

Tata Communications has been tapped by Alibaba Cloud, the cloud computing division of China’s Alibaba Group, to provide more reliable, scalable and secure cloud services, the companies announced June 10.

The partnership has Tata Communications’ cloud enablement platform IZO Private Connect tied into Alibaba Cloud’s Express Connect, Alibaba’s network service offering, which promises reliable connections between virtual private clouds (VPC), the internet and end-user networks.

“We are confident that the partnership between Alibaba Cloud and Tata Communications will assist both of us to become true digital transformation partners for our customers, empowering them to expand to new geographies, boost productivity, safeguard their businesses against threats, and take customer experience to the next level,” said Genius Wong, president of global network, cloud and data center services for Tata Communications. “We look forward to offering more global organizations connectivity to Alibaba Cloud and to strengthening our presence in the Chinese market.”

Alibaba Cloud — which offers cloud computing products covering database management, security and storage — will leverage the Tata partnership to help its customers better scale their cloud usage, according to Yeming Wang, deputy general manager of Alibaba Cloud.

“We look forward to working closely with Tata Communications in a bid to provide an exciting proposition with great connectivity for global enterprises wanting to enter China and for Chinese enterprises looking to go global with ease and convenience,” Wang said.
