CES: Wipro Hooks Up with Hisense; Dolby Scores with Sony, Philips

Las Vegas — information technology and business process services company Wipro announced at CES that its digital TV middleware solution is enabling Hisense 4K TVs in Japan, supporting several Hisense 4K TV premium product features, including ISDB-T/S Broadcast and HD-PVR.

Meanwhile, during its unveiling at CES, Sony Electronics announced that its new Bravia OLED 4K HDR TVs, would support Dolby Vision, adding another win for the company’s high-dynamic range technology. And Philips on Jan. 5 announced its UHD TVs would also support Dolby Vision.

Also at CES, TiVo shared that its CubiTV hybrid TV solution will be used by Reliance Jio Media Pvt. Ltd (RJMPL), powering the company’s advanced HD and 4K set-top box platforms. Product will include access to linear TV with PVR, VOD and network PVR, along with access to OTT services.

“TiVo’s deal with RJMPL further demonstrates our product innovations to offer hybrid television and content discovery solutions in markets like India where rapid digitization is occurring,” said Michael Hawkey, SVP and GM of user experience for TiVo. “TiVo will help deliver new set of features and functionalities for companies like RJMPL that will give consumers access to a whole breadth of new experiences.”

For NeuLion, CES saw the company announce availability of its NeuLion CE SDK Version 9.0, which handles advance playback, mobile-to-TV interactivity, security, and live 4K streaming for Smart TV manufacturers.

“Live sports, delivered in 4K, is today at the technological forefront,” said Nick Colsey, VP of business development for Sony Electronics, the first Ultra HD TV manufacturer to roll out the NeuLion CE SDK. “NeuLion is the leader in delivering live 4K streaming. We’re excited to partner with them to integrate the NeuLion CE SDK on our Sony 4K HDR Ultra HD televisions to ensure the very best 4K experience for consumers.”

You.i TV at CES saw its technology integrated into Comcast Technology Solutions’ Video Platform offering, which handles video management, distribution and monetization in one, all-in-one direct-to-consumer (D2C) solution.
