YuMe Debuts 360-Degree Video Ad Tech (MESA)

Audience tech company YuMe has debuted a new 360-degree ad format for both brands and advertisers, opening up new, more immersive video possibilities for its clients. The mobile service — powered by digital ad platform company Celtra’s 360-degree video ad format — promises to let consumers swipe or move their mobile device around to access more realistic and immersive product information.

“With mobile virtual reality set to eclipse desktop, we’re excited to be one of the first in the industry to offer our clients the ability to immerse their customers in a highly interactive and engaging branded video experience – available through the power and ease of our SDK,” said Mike O’Donnell, SVP of North American sales for YuMe. “Clients are able to gain insights into how their customers engage through metrics unique to 360-degree video, which is important for managing campaign objectives and KPIs. This includes tracking engagement based on where the user is looking in the panoramic field of view.”

Pointing to data from research firm Deloitte Global, 2016 will see the first $1 billion for VR, with Digi-Capital forecasting that augmented reality (AR) and VR together should hit $150 billion in revenue by 2020.

YuMe’s 360-degree video ad solution avoids the need for a dedicated app, and is customizable, giving advertisers the ability to add animations, overlays, image galleries and more. It’s compliant with the Interactive Advertising Bureau’s standard ad format and includes analytics to give ad companies insight into how consumers use the ads.
