Sony DADC New Media Solutions Launches Ven.ue Unlimited

A year after launching Ven.ue, a cloud-based offering, designed to let distributors pair linear broadcasts with OTT and mobile offerings, Sony DADC New Media Solutions is giving the platform an upgrade.

Ven.ue Unlimited, built on Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud, offers secure streaming access to any type of content from Sony and others, in any format, for a flat monthly fee, without customers having to commit to minimum content delivery network (CDN) services. The managed distribution service is geared toward giving broadcasters, aggregators and retailers access to more than a million hours of premium licensable content, spanning hundreds of content owners.

The service promises secure access to content, giving customers not only video and video, but all associated assets, including art, metadata and any associated text.

“Access to our premium content in its highest quality as fast as possible is a key commitment to our customers,” said Man Jit Singh, president of Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. “Ven.ue Unlimited provides the affordability, flexibility and security that makes that commitment a reality. We expect that this method of distribution will provide significant benefits to our customers, allowing them to expand their consumer offerings.”

DADC New Media Services will be exhibiting the solution Sept. 9-13 at the IBC show in Amsterdam, and said Scott Hamilton, president of Sony DADC New Media Solutions, said the solution’s top selling points include it’s customizability, a bonus considering industry standards remain constantly in flux.

“We designed Ven.ue Unlimited to reduce total cost of ownership and time to market as well as enable our customers to rapidly expand their content catalog,” he said. “A good supply chain is critical, but it should not be a barrier that prevents you from acting quickly and aggressively growing your brands with consumers.”
