Garcia Joins Cognizant (MESA)

Cognizant Technology Solutions Corp. has added Theodore X Garcia as its new VP and Western region leader for the company’s Information, Media and Entertainment (IME) group. He’ll oversee Cognizant’s work with major studios, media companies and entertainment conglomerates.

“Theodore has worked directly with many of the world’s largest media and entertainment companies in defining and implementing strategies for content management, and leveraging technology to increase efficiency, reduce costs and generate maximum revenue in the digital marketplace,” said Nirav Patel, SVP of Cognizant’s global IME practice. “We’re pleased to welcome Theodore to Cognizant and share his expertise with our clients.”

Cognizant brings the industry vet over from FilmTrack, where he served as EVP of strategy and development. Garcia has been appointed to FilmTrack’s board of advisors, where he’ll continue to help direct the future of that company’s work in providing cloud-based tools to manage intellectual property in the media and entertainment industry.

Prior to FilmTrack, Garcia was the managing director for PricewaterhouseCoopers’ (PwC) advisory services M&E practice, led Capgemini’s M&E business strategy and transformation consulting group and previously worked for both Universal Studios and Universal Music Group. He began his career as an entrepreneur and built a trading company while living in Bangladesh and India.

His clients included private companies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and government entities, with funding provided by the Aga Khan Foundation, the Sultan of Brunei, the United Nations Development Programme, British AID and U.S. AID.

An alumnus of both UCLA and London’s Business School, Garcia lives in Los Angeles with his wife Michele and their two children, Emily and Nicholas.

Garcia will continue his involvement as a member of the Advisory Board of the Media & Entertainment Services Alliance (MESA).
